Boko Haram Kills Scores in Adamawa | Destroys over 500 Houses

Boko Haram insurgents invaded the villages of Kubi and Watu in Adamawa State yesterday, killing scores of people and razing about 540 houses. The attack occurred early yesterday morning while people were still asleep, Osun Defender reports. Houses were burnt down, while residents were indoors, causing many to be killed.

300 Boko Haram Insurgents Surrender in Cameroon

A total of 300 Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly surrendered in Cameroon over the past three weeks. Cameroon’s defense ministry revealed the news, stating that after surrendering, the insurgents requested for asylum in the country, Vanguard reports. The Cameroonian military is also said to have captured one of Boko Haram’s top commanders, Abakar Ali a.k.a “Mustapher Umar, ” who was in possession of a large volume of arms and ammunition including: 14 rifles, 24 rockets, 5 machine guns, 28 rocket launcher chargers, 60 Kalashnikovs magazines, etc. The country’s military is set to share intelligence gathered from Ali with the Nigerian military.

Boko Haram Contraband Our Armoury, Says Defence Headquarters

The military authorities have said they are taking steps to secure all armouries in its various formations across the country, being aware that Boko Haram insurgents were in the habit of looting its armoury.
This was disclosed by Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade during his first real-time Twitter chat which held on Sunday night, September 28, Punch reports.
He said: “We are taking measures to ensure that our armouries are secured. We agree and are aware Boko Haram has stolen arms.”
According to Olukolade, the military is not happy with the looting of their arms by Boko Haram so inter-agency cooperation had been heightened recently to contain the menace.
Interagency collaboration has been heightened; from all indications policing of our borders has increased. Our strategic information-sharing policy considers transparency, security, propriety and accuracy in reporting to the public,” he explained.
He however did not disclose the grades and name of the armouries that has so far be stolen by the Islamist sect.
He added that the military was watching its officers closely, both those in the frontline and rear, warning that any saboteurs among its officers and men engaged in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North East, would be dealt with decisively.
According to Olukolade, there was no time frame to putting an end to the insurgency as terrorism is usually a long fight but the armed forces would not relent in its fight but will rather remain focused by maintaining the tempo of “firepower to ensure that Boko Harm is curbed.
He stated that surveillance and air operations were ongoing with a view to exerting control and ensure minimum collateral damage, while also insisting that the Defence Headquarters would not concede any portion of Nigeria to terrorists.
He therefore urged the media to be careful with its reports and not undermine structures, saying: “This is not the time to prove that the pen is mightier than the sword. Nigerian media should not undermine structures.”
In recent times Nigerian army has been dealing a heavy blow to the Boko Haram insurgents, killing many and seizing some of their weapons.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah had earlier in the month said most of Boko Haram weapons were stolen.

Boko Haram Burns 375 Christians

May their soul rest in perfect peace. Please don't read and leave without saying AMEN and SHARING THIS POST SO THAT OTHER CHRISTIANS/MUSLIMS SEE IT!!!!

About Tiwa Savage’s Unique ‘Outfit’

Honestly, Tiwa Savage is good at what she does. As an actress, model and musician, her introduction into the Nigerian music industry gave female musicians hope that they could compete favorably with the men as pop stars. Writing as someone who has seen Savage perform on stage, I still haven’t seen any Nigerian female musician who can match her energy on stage. Yes, her voice is a strong selling point. Any female musician who wants to make it as a pop star in this country should use Savage’s career as a blue-print.
Besides the admiration and attention Savage gets as a musician, her sense of fashion often irks her fans. Whether it’s the body suit she wore in her Wanted video (the video itself is a story for another day) or the see-through dress she wore to this year’s edition of the BET Awards show, anytime she steps out, her dressing always attracts some form of attention.
Anyone who has followed her career will also notice that Savage has become a lot liberal with her fashion choices. Also, she has almost single-handedly brought ‘sexy’ back to Nigerian show-business. If she releases a video today, be sure that you will see a lot of skin from either Savage or her dancers. Resultantly, many have labeled her “the Nigerian Beyonce”, “a Beyonce wannabe” or a “bad copy of Nicki Minaj”.
But the singer has not taken it lying down. She also has a few words to say in her defense on Twitter. “[I'm] going to speak my mind this morning. People only wanna see fault in others. No one speaks when I wear dresses. Why do you people only focus on certain outfits? No one talks when I wear gowns. People only wanna dwell on negatives. Haters wanna make out like I only wear pants. Get a life. Truth is, most haters do worse things behind closed doors. It’s unfortunate [that] the criticism is not valid. If I was always unclad, then fine; but, truth is, most times, I am not.”
Considering the above, it is obvious that Savage doesn’t give a hoot what anybody thinks about her dress sense. One thing is a given; sex sure sells, be it overseas or in Nigeria and TATTLES is sure Mrs Billz is smiling to the bank!

Woman to be hanged after spending 7yrs in jail for killing man who tried to rape her(Photo)

After seven years in prison,  26-year-old Iranian woman who killed a man she claims was trying to rape her will be hanged tomorrow morning.
According to Amnesty International, Iranian authorities confirmed that Reyhaneh Jabbari will be hanged .
Jabbari’s mother said today in a Facebook post that prison authorities told her she would have to go to the facility to ‘collect the body’ tomorrow. In 2007 the former decorator stabbed Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former employee of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence, after she claimed he lured her to his house with a promise of work and tried to sexually assault her.
In 2009, she was sentenced to death by a criminal court in Tehran .Human rights organisations condemned her sentencing and accused the courts of failing to examine all of the evidence’
Human rights organisation including Amnesty International  are condemning the sentencing ,claiming she was put through severe torture to extract confessional statements from her

Meet Oba Of Isolo's Beautiful Wives

It seems the latest criteria for being a crowned ruler in Nigeria these days is to decorate your harem with beautiful women as we have seen in recent times.
The Oba of Isolo in Lagos, Oba Kabiru Adelaja Agbabiaka, has also shown that he is a man of taste and his beautiful Oloris (wives) can stand out with panache and sophistication.
At his 10th year coronation anniversary held recently in his palace, the three wives of the high class king became the cynosure of all eyes when they stepped out in grand-style, looking all chic and elan.
No wonder the Oba looks ever fresh and young at all times.
Recall that a few weeks ago, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi 111, flaunted his four pretty wives as they went on holiday and shopping spree in London as well as pay a courtesy call on the Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda. Everyone that saw the wives of the Alaafin would tell you they are beautiful and elegant.

Rivers APC Attacks Jonathan

Rivers APC Attacks Jonathan

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has taken a swipe at President Goodluck Jonathan, following the comments credited to him during a rally organised by the South-South Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State on Saturday.

The state chairman of APC, Dr. Davies Ikanya, on Sunday described as ridiculous the President’s statement that the PDP will recover Rivers and Edo States from the hands of the APC in the 2015 and 2016 governorship elections.

This was contained in a statement issued by his Senior Special Adviser on Media, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, a copy obtained by Punch.

Dr. Ikanya, who stated that Jonathan’s assertion was not in line with the realities on ground in Rivers, attributed it to ignorance about the political realities in the state.

“The All Progressives Congress, Rivers State chapter, has dismissed as ridiculous the boast by President Goodluck Jonathan that his Peoples Democratic Party will recover the state from the hands of the APC during the 2015 general elections.

“This boast made on Saturday by President Jonathan during the PDP’s South-South rally in Benin City, the Edo State capital, is ridiculous because it runs counter to the realities on ground in Rivers State.

“President Jonathan’s boast is obviously based on ignorance about current political realities in Rivers State. He may not have known that the state PDP leader and prospective governorship candidate, Nyesome Wike, has polarised the PDP in Rivers State to the extent that it cannot even win a councillorship seat in a free and fair election.

“Wike (Minister of State for Education) is either deluding himself or deliberately feeding Mr. President with lies in a bid to feather his nest,” Ikanya said.

The chairman, who further took a swipe at the president, blamed him for giving Rivers oil wells to Bayelsa State, and questioned why Rivers people would vote for the PDP in 2015. He also asked if it was based on supporting Akwa Ibom and Abia states to take over the state’s oil wells.

He also accused the Jonathan led-administration of not doing any meaningful project in Rivers State as well as the President’s deliberate refusal to implement the UNEP Report on Ogoni land.
“President Jonathan has left no one in doubt of his deep hatred for Rivers State and her people. So, how can we support him or any PDP candidate in 2015,” he said.

The state chairman, who lauded Governor, Rotimi Amaechi’s achievements noted that they were enough to give the APC the anticipated victory in future elections in the state.

It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan on September 27, 2014, at the PDP South-South unity rally held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin city, Edo State, said the PDP would win Edo and Rivers states in the 2015 and 2016 general and governorship elections.

Meanwhile, on September 18, 2014, the All Progressives Congress, APC, South-south chapter announced that the party will do everything possible to stop the alleged threat to the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, by President Goodluck

Lagos Government May Charge,TB Joshua

A coroner of inquest has been set up by the Lagos state government for the purpose of investigating the cause of the September 12 collapse of a guest house belonging to the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN) that killed no fewer than 115 people.
According to This Day, this was disclosed in a statement by the Public Relation Officer of the Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Bola Akingbade.
According to the statement, the Coroner court has all the powers of a magistrate to summon and compel the attendance of witnesses, including medical examiners, and require them to give evidence, produce documents or present other relevant materials.
A statement credited to the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, says the coroner inquest will be headed by Magistrate O. A. Komolafe in pursuant to Section 15 of the Lagos State Coroner’s System Law No. 7 of 2007 and their duty is to establish the cause of the Synagogue collapse.
Ipaye said: “Komolafe has all the powers of a magistrate to summon and compel the attendance of witnesses, including medical examiners, and require them to give evidence, produce documents or present other relevant materials.”
Ipaye explained that depending on the final submission of the coroner, there might be an institution of a criminal charge against the church and it may be prosecuted.
There are indications that the Coroner court will commence sitting from next week at the premise of the Ikeja High Court.
It would be recalled that Prophet TB Joshua of SCOAN had attributed the tragic collapse to a strange aircraft which hovered over the building for some minutes before the incident.
Meanwhile, professional builders in Lagos State, have faulted the “strange aircraft”  theory purported by the Synagogue church.
Several groups have called for the arrest and trial of T.B Joshua.

Yoruba Movies Get Condemnations Over Obsession Practices

In spite of the commendations that Nigerian movies, Nollywood, has been receiving from viewers all over the world, some of the movies, especially Yoruba movies, have been attracting criticisms as regards how fetish practices are portrayed in such movies.

According to recent statistics from the Nigeria Movie Critics, NMC, seven out of every ten movies released every week since 2012, portrays ritual exercise.

It added that at least an actor from every four out of seven movies will run mad at the end of the movies.

Speaking on this development, Mulikat Adio, a home video dealer, spoke in support of Yoruba movie actors saying: “People should learn to appreciate what Nollywood actors are doing by exposing the evil nature of traditional practitioners (Babalawos) through their movies.

“These movies are not design towards debasing our moral values but to celebrate our culture and the value of our traditional history.

“The story line in most of the movies is better and superior to the foreign ones, but I do support those saying all the fetish practices portrayed in some of the home videos should be done away with.”
Scene from a Yoruba movie

Scene from a Yoruba movie

Also, Harrison Smith argues that the constant display of fetish exercise in Yoruba movies is gradually killing the creativity and suspense that usually keeps viewers glued to the movies till the end.

He said: “The consistence display of ritual exercise in Yoruba movies makes it easy for every smart viewer to predict the outcome of every movie and that demeans the value of creativity in the industry.

“The idea of “every problem must be solved by Babalawo syndrome” must be critically looked into and they should constructively initiate a more creative idea to compete with contemporary movies.

“It usually seems like movie producer is stuck at the end of every story and eventually device the herbalist consultation to solve all issues, this takes away all creativity in the work and makes it boring.

“I prefer movies in which characters fashions out solutions to the challenges and solve them.

“Instead, these characters head off to the babalawos’ houses, churches, or mosque when they face any problem. Nothing is as boring as watching people who can’t use their brains to solve problems on the small screen.”

Mrs Ola-Smith also shares her concern for the continuous display fetish practices in Yoruba movies.

In her own word: “Since I came back from the UK few months ago, I’m beginning to get worried about the same issue raised in Yoruba movies.

“I am a great lover and supporter of quality cultural Yoruba movies and I rent up to 10 to 20 movies each week.

“I am now beginning to get irritated by the amount of lack of self-belief of the producers and the use of almost same traditional story line.

“You would be surprised that out of all the Yoruba movies  I’ve watched so far, it is just about 3 that doesn’t contain a herbalist scene?.”

However, Mrs Adebukola Ake points out some of the implications of this occultist trend.

She said: “I believe that these movies are responsible for the high rate of occult practices in the country today as these actors make it feels like fetish practice is part of our heritage.

“This explains why foreigners who study our culture through the movies they watch to perceive that Nigerians are fetish.

“My sister, who was married to a white man in Europe for about five years, says her husband refused to visit Nigeria through out their marriage because, according to her, he thinks Nigerians are into voodoo.”

A Yoruba movie producer, Adebunmi Olaopa, while dismissing  the claim that Yoruba movies encourage fetish consultation, said that what they portray in their movie is usually hinged on what is obtainable in the society.

“Don’t let us get it wrong, it is the society that influences our movies, not the other way round. Most of our stories are inspired by real life events that we want our viewers to learn from.

“We make a very rigorous research before we go into production, sometimes we meet with law enforcement agents who gives us details of issues such as kidnapping, abduction,  ritual killing and other fetish issues that fall on their desk every day.

“These are what we consider before we choose to embark on any movie production,”  Olaopa stated.

Meanwhile, Akin Arejan, a popular Yoruba movie producer, added that the Nigerian movie industry is working towards establishing an internal screening exercise that will rate movies and recommend if they are viewers-friendly content that is void of extra-terrestrial activities.

“We are aware that the world is changing and we cannot be left behind. We want to assure all Yoruba movie lovers that our stories shall be revaluated and shall satisfy the expectation of all the categories of  our viewers  very soon,” he said.

(Sahara Reporters)
Two Nigerians have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on allegations of fraud.
Dandeson Ebosele Ibhonitie, 26 and Ohiwerei Charity, 31 were said to have been involved in internet fraud and they reportedly defrauded one Mrs. Weidman Andrea Sabrie, a German national of $91,000 (14,914,903.10).
The EFCC made the disclosure via a statement released on September 26 and signed by its Head of Media & Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren.
The statement reads:
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, September 26, 2014 arraigned Dandeson Ebosele Ibhonitie, 26, (a.k.a Dandy James, Connor Mead and Barrister Louis Harpoch and Ohiwerei Charity, 31,  before Justice E. F. Ikponmwen of Edo State High Court, Benin-City on a 3- count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence.
Ibhonitie and Charity allegedly belong to the group of fraudsters using the internet to defraud unsuspecting victims.
Ibhonitie allegedly defrauded one Mrs. Weidman Andrea Sabrie, a German, of the sum of $ 91,000 (Ninety-One Thousand United States Dollars) by pretending to be an American working in Nigeria for a road construction company.
To access the proceeds of the fraud, Ibhonitie allegedly opened a domiciliary account in the name of one Mr. Steven. He entered into an agreement with Charity, the account officer that opened the account for him, on how the proceeds from the crime will be shared.
By the arrangement, Charity was to keep 3 percent of every inflow to herself while 7 percent will go to Ibhonitie. The remaining 90 percent, by the arrangement, went to Steven. However, investigations showed that Ibhonitie was the same as Steven. When the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty.
One of the counts read:
"Dandeson Ebosele Ibhonitie (a.k.a Dandy James,  Connor Mead, Barrister Louis Harpoch, Brett Francis Steven (still at large) and Ohiwerei Charity on or about the 2nd day of April, 2014 at Benin within the Benin judicial division,  with intent to defraud obtained the sum of USD 45,000.00(Forty Five Thousand United State Dollars) from Mrs. Weidman Andrea Sabrie, a German national through Skye Bank of Nigeria Limited Account No: 2520346555 in the name of Dandy James by falsely pretending to her that the said sum of money represented legal fee for Barrister Louis Harpoch for your defense which pretence you knew to be false".
In view of their pleas, prosecuting counsel, Ayokunle Fayanju, prayed the court for a trial date. He also opposed the bail applications of the defendants.
Justice Ikponmwen adjourned the matter till August, 30, 2014 for hearing of bail applications and ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody.

Uche Ogbodo Said Her Marriage Was Full Of Lies

Nollywood actress and mother of one, Uche Ogbodo, who recently had a failed marriage with ex-Nigerian Footballer, Ato Ubby has revealed real reasons why the marriage did not last.
Uche Ogbodo

Uche Ogbodo

Although there were various insinuations as to what made the marriage in which the couple were joined together secretly to end, while some say she left the man because he had a brain tumour, others were of the notion that the actress married the hapless footballer only for money.
Uche Ogbodo

Uche Ogbodo

Below are the excerpts from the Vanguard interview she granted:

Have you left your husband for real?

The marriage didn’t work out.

    Was it really a marriage?

It was a marriage but we didn’t do any wedding. We didn’t do any court marriage or church wedding. We did nothing. We didn’t even do traditional marriage but in my culture, there are many processes
to getting married and I did a few of those, so you can say I was married. In Igbo land, there are rites you adhere to before you can say this is my wife and I did a couple of them.

Why did you do the rites in secret?

You cannot do rites openly; it’s just a family thing, family members only. It’s not a traditional wedding. If I had done traditional wedding, I would definitely invite people. If I had done a white wedding, I would have invited people. If I had done a court marriage, I would still have invited people but it was just rites. I didn’t do anything the public needed to know, so you can’t say I did any marriage in secret.

uche-ogbodo-latest6

What really made you leave your husband?

My marriage was full of   lies. I cannot tell you in detail what those lies were, if that’s what you’re trying to make me do but it was based on lies. It’s a pity it didn’t work out. I didn’t go into the marriage to crash it. I wanted a family; I wanted a loving home and a loving husband. That was why I went into it in the first place but as nature would have it, I didn’t get any of those. I still thank God my head is intact

Did he cheat on you? What exactly did he do?

No, it’s not about women. Like I always say, you cannot build a home on sinking sand. You need to build a home on a rock. What I mean is that a marriage built on deceit and lies is no marriage at all. If you want a solid marriage, it must be built on honesty and trustworthiness. If not, it’s definitely going to crash. If it doesn’t crash today, it will crash tomorrow, so the lies are my reasons.

When did you discover he was lying to you?

Well, it was good while it lasted; he was a good man to me. I felt all I saw was all I was supposed to see but later when one thing led to another and things started unfolding. I started finding out that everything was not what it seemed. Every relationship, you have problems in-between, there is no relationship that just goes on smoothly.
In the process of friendship and dating, we had issues that we resolved but when we took it to the next level we just couldn’t hold it together. There are things you can hide as friends but as married couple it is impossible because so many other things like families are involved.
As his girlfriend some things that were hidden were revealed when I became his wife. What happened between me and my husband is between me and my husband. We caused it, both of us caused it.

For how long were you guys together?

The marriage lasted barely a month before we started having issues. We were having issues before I found out I was pregnant.

Are you planning to raise your child as a single mother?

When I don’t have a husband, I’m raising her alone. I can’t throw my child away. It’s not her fault that the marriage didn’t work out, it’s not her fault that I got pregnant, it’s not her fault that we didn’t take our marriage seriously, so I’m going to raise her no matter what happens.

    How old is she now?

She’s a month and two weeks now

What attracted you to your husband before you married him?

I saw something in him that nobody had ever seen. I saw a man that was a good man inside his heart. It’s not like when you’re looking at him everything is perfect but I saw that deep down somewhere, there’s a good man. Without the influence of society, he would have been different. I blame it on society and I blame it on him. He allowed things to influence but he was born a good man and I thought I could bring that goodness out in him. I thought that I could change something and make it better.   I tried but it didn’t work out.

Was it completely his fault that your marriage crashed?

It’s our fault. We shouldn’t have allowed our marriage to crash. I wouldn’t know my mistakes; he would tell you my mistakes. Maybe I was a little too much to handle, maybe that’s why but I wouldn’t know until he tells you his own side of the story.

Some people were saying you got into the marriage because of money?

I didn’t get into the marriage because of money in the first place. I got into the marriage because I wanted to be married and because I saw something in him that I felt would work out for me later in life. I didn’t go into it because of money; there were no millions to spend so it wasn’t about money. I don’t care what people say. What matters is the truth and I try to be very straightforward when I deal with people. So, it wasn’t about money because there was none

Others are saying you left him because of his brain tumor?

He doesn’t have brain tumor. He was sick at the time, he had issues but his sickness is not the reason why our marriage crashed. Money was not the issue either.   I would definitely know about his health status before I would marry a man. I knew what I was going into, so how could I just leave a man because he had a brain tumor? It’s funny

You said he didn’t have a brain tumor, what was really wrong with him?

I cannot tell you, he would tell you. He was sick, he was treated but it had nothing to do with the brain. He had surgery but it was  not brain tumor, it was not cancer, he was just sick and I thank God that he’s alive. I don’t know why people just wake up and conclude things out of the blue; you don’t know these people from Adam, you just read about people and then you go and comment rubbish. You write rubbish to tear people’s lives apart even when you know nothing about their issues.

    Is he still in hospital?

He’s not in hospital; he has never been in the hospital. I don’t know why that picture came up, that picture you saw online was taken like last year December

Was your husband with you when you were pregnant?

No, he wasn’t. We were having issues, we weren’t together. He didn’t see me pregnant for one day
If you’re going to marry again, what would you do differently to make it work out?
I’m only going to keep praying to God to give me someone who wouldn’t lie to me, someone that would be plain, very plain to me.

Are you still planning to marry again?

I’ve left the door open. I’m not going to close the door of marriage because one marriage didn’t work. The door is wide open. When I find someone that I’m going to be happy with but I wouldn’t want another experience where my marriage crashes because once beaten twice shy. So I’m going to take my time now and dig deep

You said you were going to take on more daring roles back then?

Of course, I’m going to take on more daring roles, that’s my career and I’m only going to keep improving myself.

Can you have sex on screen?

As an actress, there’s nothing I cannot do.

Can you do a lesbian scene?

There’s nothing I can’t do in a movie, once it’s a movie. But in real life I’m not a lesbian, so, don’t get it twisted. That’s why I’m an actress, its make-believe, it’s not who I am. I’m only going to do my career the way I’m supposed to do it and it puts food on my table.

US Doubts Shekau Death

A senior official from the state department told reporters: “The Nigerians have announced several times that the head of Boko Haram was dead and every single time we find out that it is not true”.

“What I read recently is that Shekau’s lookalike or some Shekau impostor was killed and then I read later that maybe Shekau himself was killed. I don’t put a lot of weight on those stories until we see more evidence,” the official added, asking not to be identified.

Security officials in Nigeria had on wednessday said that Shekau has been eliminated and that Bashir Mohammed, killed during recent clashes with troops, was a lookalike who had been impersonating him in videos.

The announcement is the first time, the army had revealed that Shekau has been taken down, after refusing to comment on two occasions when the police and a rregional task force had claimed so, in 2009 and 2013.

The analyst also went forward to ask that if Shekau was truly gone, who was carrying out attacks on behalf of Boko Haram.

The United States hace been trying to assist Nigeria in the release of the 200 Chibok Schoolgirls kidnapped by the insurgents in April but the official described it as a huge challenge.

Nigerian music industry needs a doctor to treat its ailment — King Sunny Ade

Says he’s ready to do collaboration with young artistes

Juju music icon ,King Sunny Ade turned  68, on Monday, September 22,2014. The legendary singer who has been nominated severally for the Grammy awards with over 100 albums to his credit is still bubbling with life.

He had a quiet session with Weekend Groove in his country home, in Akure, the Ondo State capital during the week, where he bares his mind on  a number of  issues bothering on the Nigerian music scene, his long sojourn in the industry and more .

BY BENJAMIN NJOKU

Your were 68 years on Monday, and in two years time, you will be 70. Are you working on a new album to celebrate the milestone?
I pray that God should keep me alive till that time. But I  plan my things in an elaborate way. I prefer to work with you media guys in order to make it happen. I cannot do it alone or stand here to tell you that I will do this or that and probably end up not doing anything at the end of the day.
SunnyDbanj

D’Banj and Sunny Ade

It will look like, why did you have to make a promise that you cannot fulfill. It’s certain that I am going to celebrate my 70th birthday elaborately because I have never been there before.

Was your birth recorded at the time you were born?
That will be for my family to provide the answer.

The impression people  have is that you now spend more time in Ondo State than in Lagos?
I spend more time in Lagos than I spend in Ondo State. That’s what people don’t know. I have my office in Lagos, and my family lives there. Like I said last year, I am planning to return to Akure finally. But it has to be a gradual process. There are certain things I need to put in place. But here is like a country home for me. It provides me that relaxation spot that is lacking in the city of Lagos.

What has God done for you in the past one year?
He spared my life. In the last one year, I have never had any cause to be hospitalised and my music has not stopped either. This year is a little bit better than last year.

When you look into the mirror and see yourself still looking healthy, how do you feel?
I don’t look into the mirror. You are my mirror. When I look into the mirror, there is the tendency that I would see that all is not well. But if you tell me that I am looking well fed.

I will thank God for my life that after all the toiling and hustling for survival, someone would look into my eyes and tell me that I am looking healthy. Well, I would take that as a  compliment. It’s better for me than looking into the mirror.

Victor Olaiya did a collaboration with 2face last year. Are you planning to do a collabo with the young artistes?
Recently, I was on stage with Wizkid, Olamide and other artistes at Mo’Abudu’s birthday anniversary. I am in the family of the new generation of artistes. Any artiste that wants to do collaboration with me, I am ready to do so with him.

At the last Glo Evergreen musical event, you did a very perfect combination with D’banj. How did you blend with him?
Actually, we did not rehearse together to perform on stage. I didn’t even know much about the song that we performed. But when D’banj came on stage, there was no room for us to rehearse. I simply told him to play any song that he wants to play, and I would  flow with it. And that was what I did. Interestingly, the song I sang was composed on stage.

Are you disappointed with what is happening these days, where the new generation of artistes hardly handle musical instruments compared to your own time?
I wouldn’t say I am disappointed because I left my guitar for a while, but now, I am going back to it. You saw the difference during the Glo Evergreen musical event. It also happened last night at an event organised to celebrate me at 68. I wouldn’t say it’s a disappointment. We are going to work together to get it right.

At 68, do you feel the same when you come on stage?
Unless there is no instrument, sound and music on stage. When I climb the stage, I’m there to make everybody happy until the end of the show. I feel satisfied when I make people happy.

What is it like, moving a big band like yours?
My band started with about four to five members. But today, I have a 50-member band. Sometimes, I will be on stage with 23 of them including the two engineers and the dancers.  We  have about two to three trucks that move my musical equipment around. It’s not easy to move a big band, but I saw something in-between.

I started moving a big band a long time ago. Moving a big band is  like playing a card. Sometimes, you loose and at other times, you win. I move almost 27/28 members of my band abroad. But now, I have streamlined it. I have reduced my dancers from five to two dancers and I have also reduced my piece man, from 23 to 17, including two engineers.

Was there any point in your musical career when you felt like dumping your guitar?
Even if it occurred, I did not give up. This is because in everything, especially when you are managing human beings, you have to be focused. For instance, when the band broke up, if I didn’t have foresight it would take me a long time to bring the band back to its feet. But when it occurs like that, I quickly put on my thinking cap.

And that’s why I used to hold the centre of the boat. When the boat is sinking, I would raise it up, and when it’s going in the wrong direction, I would redirect it. But I wonder if I have ever thought of giving up my musical career.

Let’s talk about your genre which is juju music. What’s your take on the future of juju music in Nigeria?
It’s not juju music alone. It’s about all genres of music in Nigeria. The Nigerian music industry itself needs a doctor to treat its ailment. How many music and musicians are in existence today? Some of us cannot afford to purchase our musical instruments. You can’t get a very good guitar at anything less than N60,000,00. Except you want to buy a low quality guitar. Musical instruments are very expansive.

Musicians are fashioning out ways of producing their music. And for you to satisfy Nigerians with your music, you must always be good at your craft. It costs a lot of money. If young artistes want to copy my music, it would cost them a lot of money. It’s not only juju music, it also affects other genres of music in Nigeria.

Most of us who perform at shows, almost everyday hire instruments. Unfortunately, those who hire out these instruments have categorised them to the detriment of the musicians. That’s why these days, you have musicians who record their music using back up voices.

Have you ever been inspired to fashion out your own style of playing guitar which many known guitarists all over the world do?
Yes, I have my own style of playing my guitar. I have my lines on how I play my guitar. If I leave my guitar here, and you are a guitarist, you can’t play it because of the way I tuned it. You have to study my guitar before you can play it.

All over the world, you hardly can come across somebody who plays a guitar with his fingers.  I  don’t use pick. I decided when I started my musical career to create a unique style and my line of guitar. That’s why I can use my guitar to sing whatever song I want to sing effortlessly. I play rhythm in my guitar and that’s my own creation.
That was why several years ago, I came 68 as one of the best guitarists in the world.

Are you saying that if you leave your guitar with a Mexican and American musician, Carlos Santana, he wouldn’t understand how you tuned it and be able to play it?
If I leave my guitar with him and when he picks it, he will understand how I tuned it. But if he leaves his own guitar with me, I will try my best to play it. He plays his guitar on regular, while mine is open cord.

Are planning to do collaboration with him?
Carlos Santana is my friend. He did one collaboration with some  artistes recently. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame. We are still celebrating him.

SunnyWizIn Nigeria, your music is  described as Juju, but at the international scene, your music is categorised under world beat. Do you agree with the categorisation of your music as world beat?
When they gave me that award as the King of World Beat, they had a problem of categorising our music. But it was because of my music that they now created the World Beat.

You were recently given professorship by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.  What is expected of you in that capacity?
A lot is expect of me; my experience in music. I don’t even want a monetary reward. But my utmost concern is to groom future musicians straight from the university. Until now, I am the only musician in Nigeria who has bagged Doctorate degrees in University of Ibadan as well as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. I am expecting another   surprise which I wouldn’t want to talk about here.

What’s your take on entertainers who are going into politics?
I don’t want to comment on that because I don’t know what inspired them into politics. I am not a politician. But whoever wants to go into politics, good luck to the person. To me, I don’t play politics, and I don’t want to be a politician. So, I cannot speak for them because they know why they went into it.

Given your busy schedule, how do you find time to stay with your family?
I still thank my God for holding my family together for me. When you  are serving humanity, your family suffers a lot. This is because when my children are going to school, I will be returning home to sleep. And by the time, they are returning from school, I would be on my way out of the house.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan CallsF or UN Security Council Reform

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday in New York, the United States of America, called for the review of the United Nations Security Council in the face of global insecurity challenges. Presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati said Jonathan, made this call while delivering Nigeria's annual statement to the United Nations General Assembly. Abati said Jonathan's call for the reform was predicated on the need for 'transparency, inclusivity, and common ownership' in the UN Security Council. 'The failure of unanimity of action by the Security Council over pressing challenges to global peace and security in Syria, Iraq, the conflict in Ukraine, and the renewed aggression between Israel and Palestine, have strengthened the case for the reform of the Security Council,' President Jonathan was quoted as telling the annual gathering of global leaders. The President also called for an urgent review of the United Nations peacekeeping operations across the world. He added, 'Today's challenges can only be resolved by a Security Council whose working methods engender transparency, inclusivity, and common ownership through equitable representation of all regions in the decision making process of the council. 'It is imperative that we take advantage of 2015, which also marks the 50th Anniversary of the 1965 reform, to make concrete progress on the reform of the council. 'We call for a fast-tracked process, in line with the initiative of His Excellency John Ashe, President of the 68th General Assembly, for establishing a working group on reform. 'Indeed, the Security Council requires the collective resolve of all member states to ensure that 2015 brings decisive progress.' The President noted that the world continued to witness war, even though, the UN was established about 70 years ago to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war. He also said, 'Today's terrorism is vicious and aimless. Its consequences are extremely agonising, marked by a tendency to annihilate victims, and completely destroy infrastructure and properties. The involvement of foreign fighters has remained a common feature of terrorist groups - whether Al Qaeda in the Maghreb, Al Shaabab in Somalia, Boko Haram in Nigeria, or the newly emerging Islamic State. 'The new dimension introduced by the IS to conquer territory and establish its destructive ideology, is a major challenge that must be collectively halted before it becomes the norm. This refocuses attention on the need to review present tools for United Nations peacekeeping operations.' He, however, assured the gathering that Nigeria would continue to do everything possible to rescue the over 200 schoolgirls abducted from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State in April. He also expressed the determination of his administration to curb the violent and criminal activities of Boko Haram. He said, 'I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the countries and organisations that expressed solidarity with us, and have continued to support our determined efforts to free our daughters. 'Although it has been over three months since they were abducted, we have never relented in our efforts to set them safely free. Together with our partners, we are working assiduously to free our daughters and reunite them with their families. 'Let me underline today, that we shall not waiver until we end this mindless war on the innocent, and bring all the perpetrators to justice. We will triumph over terrorism.' On the deadly Ebola Virus Disease in West Africa, the President assured the United Nations that Nigeria was now free of Ebola. But he said that the world must act in unison to stop the disease from becoming a global disaster. The President said, 'While Nigeria was able to respond effectively to control the spread of the disease, the situation in Liberia and Sierra Leone requires sustainable, collective global action to contain. Through the concerted efforts of our healthcare professionals, the World Health Organisation and our international partners, we have been able to contain the EVD and we can confidently say that Nigeria is today, Ebola-free. 'We have however continued to support efforts at containing the spread of the disease in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea. It is pertinent to stress the need for the international community to properly appreciate the enormity of the EVD challenge.'

Woman Killed From Sneezing While Driving

A woman was killed after another driver came under a sneezing spell while driving, according to police reports.

Friends of the woman from Kansas City, Missouri, who was killed Wednesday in a car crash, prayed Friday for her injured 1-year-old son.

The child who was injured in the accident near Smithville Lake, remained in critical condition Friday at Children's Mercy Hospital.

"I’m almost in shock and just having a hard time wrapping my head around the whole thing," Cheryl Krecker, who is a friend and colleague of Laura McClendon, 30, said.

McClendon had taken a new job this summer after working for five years with Krecker at Cramer LLC, a Kansas City office seating manufacturer.

"She only had improved her career and was really getting her act together as a single mother," Krecker said.

The tragedy highlighted the fact that fatal traffic accidents apparently caused by sneezing, although unusual, is not unprecedented. She also served as a reminder of the importance of wearing a seat belt, said Sgt. Collin Stosberg of the Missouri Highway Patrol.

According to the accident report from the police, McClendon had not been wearing a seatbelt. Her car collided Wednesday afternoon with a vehicle driven by Kathryn Brady, 44, of Smithville, according to the report.

The accident occurred after Brady’s minivan had driven onto the eastbound lanes, east of Smithville. Brady started sneezing violently, according to the police report, and her car crossed the centerline of the road, hitting McClendon’s car head-on.

Police charged Brady with reckless driving and for not having insurance, Stosberg said.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Features Three Protagonists

Grand Theft Auto 5 will have three playable characters. According to the next issue of Game Informer magazine, Rockstar Games created a "groundbreaking" use for the three characters, and placed them in the"reimagined Los Santos – the biggest open world Rockstar has created to date."
Look for the 18 page maxi-feature in December's Game Informer, which will be on stands and mailboxes in about two weeks.
Until then, let's look at the photo above and consider who the heroes most resemble. I say, from left to right, Jack Nicholson in The Shining, Dr. Dre when he was younger and Jimmy Kimmel. Thoughts?

From the look of the kid's face, she sure as hell enjoyed being in her daddy's arms in public.

Real human Barbie doll exposes as a fake

The real human Barbie doll, who became a popular Internet sensation, was exposed as just another fake, according to reports.

With her tiny waist, disturbingly sharp and prominent bust, the Human Barbie has become a viral phenomenon. But her appearance seems much more human in a recent video that has questioned her claim that she does not use PhotoShop on her image portfolio.

A website has released new videos showing Valeria Lukyanova, the real name of the Human Barbie doll, looking dramatically different than she does in images.

"This girl is a fraud. She had been photoshopping her pictures from the beginning of her time on the Internet," informed sources wrote on a website. "Her videos are not photoshopped. Does she still
look the same? There are a lot more videos out there and as you can see from them, she looks nothing like she does when she photoshops her pictures," another one wrote.

Another website also accused her of being a former mail-order bride.

Lukyanova has denied that she has had plastic surgery or that she is using Photoshop to create her images. In one of her latest videos, Lukyanova bows her head at awkward angles and slams her critics, but also looks much more like a normal woman than of the usual Human Barbie images.

Chibok Schoolgirls Not Rescued

Nigerians and the world community are confused by the controversy surrounding reports by the Nigerian military on the status of the Chibok schoolgirls who were abducted by Boko Haram in mid-April, 2014.

First excited with the news of Chibok schoolgirls’ release, then disappointed and confused

Dozens of Nigerians took to their preferred social media platforms to express their emotions and opinions. Understandably, many feedbacks were grim and ironical. Some blamed the authorities for not paying enough attention to the problem of insecurity on the whole and to the release of Chibok schoolgirls’ release in particular.

Still, the majority stressed the necessity to focus on the Chibok schoolgirls’ safe release.

Hamisu Gumel commented on Facebook: These people are morally bankrupt. Who would lie to mislead Nigeria in an issue that is supposed to be of national emergency? Edet Okon UYe expressed worst fears: No need to rescue this girls. They don’t exist anymore. Probably they are suicide bombers.

Samson Bukar Mshelmbula, however, defended the military: They are human. You mean you never make mistakes at all? It’s a honourable think for someone to make a statement and within 30 minutes retract same.
Chibok schoolgirls: rescued or not?

Yesterday, several Nigerian and foreign media outlets reported the break-through in rescuing Chibok schoolgirls from the Boko Haram captivity. It has been alleged that an undisclosed number of the girls have newly escaped and were seen near the Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri, Borno State. Almost immediately, however, the information has been denied by the Nigerian Defence Headquarters. It has all started with the tweets by the BBC Africa:

Additionally, Brig. Gen. Chris Olukolade, spokesman for the Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters, has confirmed the information to Nigeria’s Premium Times (according to Premium Times reports).

Shortly after the initial reports, this message appeared both on official Twitter and Facebook accounts of the Defence HQ:

BBC Africa and, subsequently, the Nigerian media, have spread Olukolade’s explanation that “there were girls in military custody, but not those from Chibok as originally thought.“

Below is an audiofile of Olukolade’s interview (his statements start 2 minutes into the news report) obtained from the Inspiration FM 92.3 website:

Leadership’s “impeccable anonymous military source” disclosed: “What we have in the barracks were some 32 out of the 57 Chibok schoolgirls that were being conveyed to Kaduna where the state government had arranged new schools for them. And for them to get to Kaduna safely, they needed to be accompanied by some security personnel.”

The source added top officials in Abuja were extremely  concerned about the development and reprehended the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army for allowing the seemingly false reports to appear in the media even before the Defence Headquarters or the presidency were briefed.
I’ve never said anything about the release of the Chibok schoolgirls – Olukolade

Chris Olukolade has taken to his official Twitter account to express his side of the confusing story in a series of tweets:

It would be recalled that almost 300 Chibok schoolgirls were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists on 14th April, 2014. On April 16, the military officials have claimed that the majority of the girls have escaped their captors, with only eight remaining in the terrorists’ hands. However, after the Chibok schoolgirls’ parents and residents of the town have challenged the report, this information was dismissed by the Army as incorrect. Reacting to the development, Mr. Olukolade had stated the report was “not intended to deceive the public”. By mid-October, the girls will have been in captivity for six months.

Stealing From Houses

Kwame one day told Akpos about the robbery in their neighbourhood. He said, "The robbers have been attacking for a week now. They have robbed four houses including my house and they operate by jumping through fences." Then Akpos replied, "That's terrible! But thank God I'm lucky." Kwame then asked, "Why? Do you have a dog?" Akpos replied, "No, my house does not have a fence."

Why 2015 Elections Will Be Tough- Buhari

A chieftain of the All Progressives congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, has revealed that the 2015 general election would be tough. The former military head of state made the revelation on Tuesday, at Lokoja township stadium, Kogi State, during the formal reception of Kogi PDP decampees to the APC, Vanguard reports. READ ALSO: APC Denies Buhari, Others Automatic Ticket Buhari, who is also a presidential aspirant under the APC, urged party members to collect their voters’ card and hold on to them. He pleaded with Nigerians to also vote out those he termed “treasury looters,” and promised that APC would provide free amenities and improved infrastructures like water, electricity and improved education system for Nigerians. He further hinted that the 2015 polls are expected to be tough as the APC is bent on taking over the government, from councillor to presidency. “The next five months will be very tough. Next election is going to be different and next year is going to be tough because APC is ready for change in Nigeria. We will stop corruption; no more will anybody put government money into private pockets” Buhari said. Speaking also at the event, the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, who received the defectors accused the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of giving Nigeria a bad name. He said Nigeria is terribly asleep and is having a serious nightmare. The party’s national chairman, who is also the former governor of Edo State, further stated that Nigeria will continue to experience nightmare except the ruling PDP is voted out of power. “There is hope for Nigeria if Nigerians wake up fast and vote for APC which is becoming the fastest growing party in Nigeria, and has come to remedy the ills meted on the country” Odigie-Oyegun said. READ ALSO: Atiku Reacts To Automatic Ticket Similarly, former Vice- President, Atiku Abubakar, advised Nigerians to protect their votes, noting that several elections have been rigged because voters failed to protect their votes. Algeria: Frenchman ‘kidnapped by ISIL splinter group’ appears in video

A French man, reportedly kidnapped in Algeria on Sunday (September 21) seems to have appeared in a video saying he was taken hostage by an Islamic State (ISIL) splinter group called the Caliphate Soldiers. In the video the man, who gives his name as Hervé Pierre Gourdel, says he arrived in Algeria on September 20. He appeals to the French president not to intervene in the conflict in Iraq: “I am in the hands of Jund al-Khilifa, an Algerian armed group. This armed group is asking me to ask you (President François Hollande) to not intervene in Iraq. They are holding me a hostage and I ask you Mr President to do everything to get me out of this bad situation, and I thank you.” The French foreign ministry has not yet confirmed the video’s authenticity. Reports suggest Gourdel, a mountain guide, was kidnapped while trekking.
